Is Arizona full of Movie Stars??????????

Is"Prior to coming to UCLA, Harlan served as the Senior Vice President for Central Development at The University of Arizona Foundation. Working directly with the university and Foundation presidents, he oversaw university-wide annual giving, corporate relations, communication and marketing, donor services, gift planning, and scholarships."

As a matter of fact  a large fraction of Zona's students come from Southern California and return there as Alumnus.

Wonder why?

So the answer is no, AZ is not full of movie stars.

A top exec at a big school. Isn't this what everyone wanted?

No, everyone here wanted THE top exec at a big school.  After all, we are USF.   We are the top landing spot in the country!

It's the weather. Same reason no kids ever turn us down for Big 10 schools.

Good lord.  WTF is wrong with you people?

They hired a senoir associate AD from a big school, a PAC-12 school.  He is known for his "fundraising and marketing prowess", something that is lacking at USF.

All you people know is how to complain, complain and complain.

You do not even give the guy a chance to have a press conference to announce that he is actually taking the job.

This is probably why you see the same tools commenting over and over and over.  It just gets tiring here, and new comers decide to stop coming by.

Count me as possibly one of the few on here that actually dig the hire. He's coming from a Pac-12 school that has been successful in both football and basketball, with more success coming in the latter sport. I think our athletic department needs a serious jolt in the arm, and my hope is that Harlan has such a demand for detail that he'll either install people in management to oversee athletics better, or he'll be more hands-on than Doug was. I have a hunch that Harlan will likely function in a similar capacity than Doug (money wrangler), so I'm hoping we get some passionate assistant athletic directors in place. In order for our school to remain competitive in the AAC, we need an athletic department that doesn't just pay lip-service to aiming to be the best in conference, but one that also does the little things right to make that happen. Harlan will have his work cut out for him in getting lots of donors back in the fold. If he lays out a clear vision for USF athletics, and installs folks that demand some pride in their work, I think he'll be alright.
