This was brought up back when Skip was here ... Some are not really familiar with the definition of nepotism.

Collin Sherwin from Voodoo Five is reporting that he's getting a lot of whispers that it's going to be Mark Harlan from UCLA. ANOTHER BASKETBALL HIRE?! SERIOUSLY?! 

 

Please don't let this be true...Parker or Bonasorte or bust....and Harlan's the bust.

So I looked at his official bio:

 

...he oversees all facets of development, marketing, promotion, branding, licensing, sports information, alumni relations, ticket sales, as well as manages third party rights holder, IMG. Under his leadership, these units have seen increased revenues, creation of new media and overall communication strategies for the department and enhanced relationships with key city and corporate partners throughout the Los Angeles Area

 

And at some of the reviews on the Bruins SBN articles. (pure hatred of this man.)

 

First of all, if the man works for a bad AD, of course he is going to have to deliver bad news and toe that line. Second, I know how fans are - it's always worse to fans than it might be in objective reality. 

 

I'm looking for the the truth, which is inevitable somewhere in between. So while I want to hate it, I have to pause and think about what the committee must have heard from him that they liked. Must be something good, right?

 

One thing to note: Ticket sales have dropped dramatically at UCLA in 2012 from 2011, but contributions are way up. Total revenues are up across 2010-2012. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/schools/finances/ (click on the school to open up details)
