Oh come on guys... Did you not see the comedy in that statement? Everyone could probably read it differently, but I read that statement to mean that USF needs someone new and exciting. We don't need another typical, run of the mill AD. We need someone to be bold, outgoing, and get this program back on track. I think the white guy statement is just a stereotype of a white collar businessman dressed in a suit, collecting paychecks, very reserved, etc. You could argue that is not what USF needs at this time. We need someone that stands out to get us rejuvinated again. We need a change from Woulard at this time.

Not everyone will see it this way though, I understand, but a statement like that shouldn't deter you from the entire article and discount it altogether. Their entire premise is being sarcastic, healing through humor and being ecstatic when things are going right for us. You should already know that going into the article. It may not be for everybody and that's fine. Those comments just irritate me though.

And to add, I am so glad that USF went to the search agency so that they could keep this hiring process underwraps. Great move by USF to get around the freedom of information act in the state of Florida. Props to Judy and staff.

Yay to circumventing the law! :D

Technically correct, but the law is there for a lot more important stuff to the public than this ... There's no need for it in this case other to appease a bunch of gossiping, nosy busybodies ... ;)

"Also, check out the diversity below... as in not diverse at all. Let's at least hope we can find some non-white guy names to surface at some point. I'd love to see us make a hire that looks like America,"

Had to stop reading there....

I wonder if Collin's met our head coaches?

Coaches aren't administration, different level on the food chain.

I feel like we had an AD once who wasn't white. Can't remember his name...

I think it was an ex-Buc DE .... Booker Reese, maybe?

And as far as diversity with this hire, Keith Tribble should be available.

Did anyone miss the start the article? Let me quote it again for everyone.

There was a meeting of the USF Athletic Director search committee on Feb. 18th. I spoke yesterday with USF spokesman Adam Freeman yesterday, who said that no further meetings of the committee are scheduled. Yet all we're hearing is that a hire is coming no later than the end of next week

We could have a new athletic director next FRIDAY?! Oooh, that would be good. Hoping for Parker or Bonasorte.

Let's see.....USF has a woman president, an african-american head MBB coach, an african-american head FB coach, a latino head WBB coach, a latino head BB coach.....  Seem's to me that diversity would require that we hire a white male as AD since the presidency and all the major sports are sprinkled with a cornocopia of diversity hires.  Shoot, maybe we can get a white FTM transgender to be USF's AD, wouldn't that be special and speak to our diversity as a University?

Just to be sure, you do realize that this is one of those rare moments that we're in complete agreement, right?? ..... Except for the transgender recommendation. You're on your own there.

I do.  My comment was a follow up to yours, not a counter comment to yours.  I know you're not used to that.  And yes, I'm on my own with the transgender recommendation, made obviously in jest, hence the face plant at the end.

Honestly, I may be warming up to that transgender idea, though .... Remember, there's no such thing as bad publicity.

Wonder what Sen. Larry Craig and Rep. Mark Foley are doing?

Of course for them it would be a titular role. Sorry, I just had to.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
