Just easier to refer to it as NBC. From what I understand it will be a complete rebranding of the sports network. They are supposed to be stepping up to compete with ESPN. If it is just a re-titled Versus I agree ESPN is the better place to be, but it is supposed to be taken to a complete different level. All depends on their strategy and vision for the network. If their vision comes to fruition then NBC is the better place to be.

Shop the games to the highest bidder every week. I mean how could you do much worse than 1.8 million a year.? It also leaves you the flexibility to negotiate a better contract down the road. If the BE outperforms the ACC like it has traditionally, numbers could skyrocket. It would also leave us an escape hatch if anybody else makes a better offer. Who really needs a media deal? The OL sites will always pick up the stragglers and premium games will become really valuable if you can shop them to multiple bidders. Content is only going to become more valuable, if history is a guide. The BE was dead supposedly when BC, UM and VT bolted. Well that didn't happen. It's completely the wrong time to negotiate a TV contract. With so much upheaval we are really getting the short end of the stick. If ESPN or Fox can successfully sell off our less desirable product to 3rd parties, why can't media wizard, Mike Aresco do the same thing internally? However, the Big East's presidents voted to turn down the deal that would have earned football members nearly $14 million a year Isn't this pretty much a moot point considering the 16 teams leaving the conference since it was offered? The contract would have been torn up, wouldn't it?

If that deal was signed, maybe the Big East would actually be a player with the other five conferences. Either way, talk about an outhouse deal from ESPN. Brett McMurphy was correct months ago (even worse, the deal was even less than the $500 million offer he said we would be lucky to get). Fail! And they took ESPN when they would be featured on NBC? I wonder how many USF games will actually be on TV vs the internet compared to if they went with NBC. What about a counter offer from NBC?
