He said amount of games, but nothing about time slots. He did say that espn matched because they wanted to keep us away from NBC, not that they wanted us, they just didn't want anyone else to have us. I hope I'm wrong, I hope that espn changes how it's treated the BE for the last year, but I seriously doubt they will. Time will tell. He said they can't just throw games on the Internet...and to match they went to Fox Sports... My points are that there is no indication that we will not have other than Thursday night games, and why is Foxsports1 be any better than NBCSports? I'm seriously not trying to argue, I just don't think that it's a better deal as it stands now, "knowing" what we know.

No other days/nights. And teams can ONLY play Thursday night games FOLLOWING a bye week. No more short weeks. Take it or leave it. (1) I think Thursdays were happening on NBC (2) because we keep SOME presence on ESPN. My beef wasn't with going to NBC, it was taking all presence off ESPN. In an dream world we could have some 1st tier deal with NBC and 2nd with ESPN, but that's just never happening.

Joe is in the minority...not that it matters anyway. Both deals are equally awful and relegate the Big East forever on the outside. The Big East in 2005 more or less bridged the gap between the "power five conferences" and the outsiders. We were close enough to be relevant. Now, we are on equal footing with the MWC, which is somehow some way better than the MAC and CUSA, but guess what? No body out side of the MWC knows or cares. Our time in the big leagues was fun. Unless we get out of the BE, we are done. We had a good run.

As soon as this Maryland case is finished, things will move quicker for the rest. It depends if the ACC TV language let's ESPN backout and rebid after the league falls apart. The talk is for them to lose up to 8 more schools. If ESPN can't back out of the contract then it will be a safe heaven for the 10 years the deal runs through, but it will be up to the schools in it to make the league compete with the "Power 4". The Big East didn't do that perception wise (reality is that they weren't far off), but they need to convince people they are head and shoulders better than the non Power 4 and keep teams consistently ranked. But until it happens, I'm not counting on USF escaping.

I think 3-ish Yes, it's between 3 and 4 Is there anyone out there that thinks we SHOULD get more than that? Or even a similar amount? If so, based on what? This league is worth FAR less than what it has been. If you're saying more than the $1.8M, I agree. Based on getting between 3 and 4 before, and I'm assuming this is for football and basketball, the 1.8 seems about right. The highest profile athletic programs of the NBE are all basketball, UConn, Cincy and Memphis .... What are the other conferences getting per team? yes we should absolutely get more than 1.8. The value of sports programming has SKYROCKETED since our last deal. There is no way this conference is less valuable than MWC. Other conferences get 18-25 million now... PER YEAR PER SCHOOL
