On 10/10/15, we went into the fifth game of the season with an abysmal record of 10-30 over the prior 40 games. USF had started the season by beating Florida A&M, lost to Number 11 Florida State at home, and lost by 18 to a scrappy Maryland team (#87 in Sagarin Rankings at the time) away. In the game against Syracuse, Quinton Flowers stole the show completing 60% of his passes for 259 yards, 2 TDs, 0 INTs while adding 55 yards on the ground and another TD, leading USF to a 45-24 home victory. We'd go 7-2 for the remainder of the schedule and then 21-4 over the next two seasons in the best stretch of football since the Jim Leavitt era.

On 9/23/23, we went into the fourth game of the season with an abysmal record of 5-35 over the prior 40 games. USF had started the season by beating Florida A&M, lost to Number 10 Alabama at home, and lost by 17 to a scrappy Western Kentucky team (#89 in Sagarin Rankings at the time) away. In the game against Rice, Byrum Brown stole the show completing 76% of his passes for 435 yards, 2 TDs, 0 INTs while adding 82 yards on the ground and another TD, leading USF to a 42-29 home victory. Was this game our 'Syracuse' moment, where we'll finally turn around from the disaster that's been USF football for the better part of five years

I think we looked better but also recognize that even CJS never lost to Rice, as a matter of fact no coach has, so it could be a bit early to think we definitely turned the corner.

Very possible...I guess we only can confirm by seeing how this team does rest of year cause if they won only one more game obviously it wasn't.

But I have a feeling it was...team just looks way better. They play with intensity and coaching is much better.

CJS won 4 games here. 1 against a FBS team.

I guess the health of their QB will make all the difference in the world.

No, the bye week record will be the deciding factor. Don't care at all about the health, or lack of, of our opponent. Line'em up, kick their butts and move on.

GO BULLS!

I have a feeling that even he could have won more games in our new worst conference.

Best stretch of football in USF history, based on wins and losses.

Really because I don't know if we could win games without the defensive revival.

My hopes, too ..... only a little reticent because that was CWT's 3rd year, more time to get his players in place. This turning of the corner may have some false starts ...... although, great equalizer could be that CJS left CAG Byrum Brown, CSH left Matt Floyd.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
