Puc lol but that's about it. I think just about everyone else on here realizes that while it sucks to see us up while y'all are down, us being up isn't what caused you to be down. If either of our schools had done things differently we could've both been in the Big 12 expansion. Or both left out.

Not sure where @puc86 is these days, but I remember most of his argument being we shouldn't have assisted you along the way as we did by even recognizing you as a peer. 

You didn't cause our problems, our "leadership" did.  Recognizing UCF was only one of their many mistakes over last 15 years.

Rivalries are gimmicks used to get people to watch specific games. There is a reason that the WVU vs Pittsburgh, Oklahoma vs Oklahoma State, Nebraska vs Oklahoma rivalries were not considered during conference expansion. We made it to the Big East without UCF and UCF made it to the Big 12 without us. There is no benefit to us playing them now just as there was no benefit in us playing them back then. Our mentality needs to be “we are BETTER than UCF”. We should strive to play/beat better teams, have better facilities and create a better BRAND. We have to try and separate ourselves from them as much as possible. The whole “package” deal people talked about didn’t work, so we need to focus on us. It has to be South Florida, nothing else. In all honesty, we need a marketing/media overhaul in addition to the IPF and OCS. It’s the details that matter even our apparel (yes, it matters when people see teams in Adidas vs Nike or Under Armour) and yes, winning is most important. We can’t have people mistaking USF with UCF, therefore I do think South Florida is better for us than using USF. UCF is dead to me in all ways.

How can you have a ******* rivalry when, basically, you weren't even playing them?? They were a presence here when I joined the board but quickly became an infestation. They were as much a rival as one of these .....
