Pure coincidence that both schools are hoping for a 2025 completion date?

I don't think anyone at USF has uttered 2025 but I sure would rather open the stadium against Boise instead of FAU.  Can't wait for Miami, 2027 too far away for the OCS.

GO BULLS!

I guess I'd need to see some of the financial aspects of all these Memphis changes before understanding if it has anything to do with attracting potential conference expansion or not. The stadium's not being moved on campus and still looks to be controlled by the city. I know John has said that a key thing, with the Big 12 at least, (paraphrasing) may be the controlling of the revenue streams. This doesn't seem to address that. I know the Liberty Bowl was pretty much a dump but that didn't dissuade the conference from expanding into Oviedo ....

Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland told The Daily Memphian that the “lion’s share” of renovation funding will come from the university

“Now we will partner in getting that funding and getting that work done,” he said. “We do not know how we are going to fund $150 million to $200 million. But that’s not the announcement today.”

GO BULLS!

FAU will be a conference game, so that will get rescheduled to some other team.

I hope they don't try to make this game a Thanksgiving weekend tradition.  No need to help FAU become more relevant.

Good point!  Maybe schedules can be finagled with trades and payments to move Miami up a year.  Their opening game in 2026 is FAMU and they need a game in 2025.  Let's get it done and then commit to opening the OCS in 2026.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
