They are only taking two from that list with the front runners being BYU and Cincy

Wrong, Dallas Morning News and the Athletic are both reporting all 4 of these schools.

I read both, it’s still speculation.

Can confirm via industry source that BYU, UCF, Cincinnati and Houston have emerged as the four leading contenders in Big 12 expansion. Told timeline is fuzzy but process could be completed sometime during the academic year. First reported by

One factor favoring BYU, UCF, Cincinnati and Houston in Big 12 expansion, I'm told, is they all have large, passionate alumni bases that could be attractive to media partners.

Those really are the best candidates TBH.

The skip and chuck parallel timelines are amazing.

Our lack of fan base from alumni will be our killer.

The Big 12's current preference in expansion discussions is adding four members, sources tell @TheAthletic. BYU, UCF, Cincinnati and Houston are considered the leading contenders. Still a lot of work to be done.

It's not speculation.  They are quoting industry sources (read: Big 12 commissioner and other high level  Big 12 sources).  They obviously can't name their sources.

So the b12 can run their mouths, but aresco can’t? That’s interesting

Ok, it sounds reasonable but I am not buying anything until the B12 announce…god this **** is depressing. The only way out for the AAC is a complete merge with the MWC but they won’t do it because now the MWC is a better conference.

I don’t think it’s speculation because they’re hearing something they think is real and passing it on. Whether or not it does become a reality is what we’ll be on pins and needles about.
