This gets back to what The Sherrif said in the game thread about the attitude of the OGs.  It reminds me that nothing big comes without hard work.

But also we need leaders and people who believe they can do anything and make it happen while the self loathers sit and watch.  This takes a crazy amount of willpower.

Just as long as it’s not a peace of crap rust bucket. I don’t care if it’s $200millions.

This was our failure all along. The quality of it almost doesn’t matter. They built it and people came.

UCF does not have a world class stadium. But their game day environment is FUN for all. Kids, parents, donors, students.

But we knew this 25 years ago - even before they built their stadium and yet we did nothing.  And here we are.

Correct…it is the old farts who complain that a stadium has to have certain qualities. That’s rediculous, just build something basic and get the games on campus.

So are we covering up the baseball field or playing at Corbett? I think either will be able to accommodate the massive throngs of fans at our games after the UF game

The other thing that irks me is that had we built an OCS at our peak when 35K+ fans were coming out regularly, it might’ve done wonders for the North Tampa community. People don’t realize that other business infrastructure comes along (granted its mostly bars and stuff) with an OCS. Every time one of my HS students comes back from touring USF, they always talk about how **** the surrounding area is and how there is nothing to do it seems like (besides drive 25+ minutes to get to South Tampa).
It’s just a shame everything USF athletics could’ve done when they should’ve.

Can't go back in time.  The only thing that can make up for lost time is building it better.

We had successes and we said things about them and then most of our fans laughed at them, said we were ridiculous and underserving as we embraced our self loathing. They had successes and they bought into them and no matter who laughed at them and made fun of them they were not deterred. If you believe something long enough and are steadfast in your conviction as you say it loud enough eventually people stop laughing and just go ahead and believe it too. But hey at least we were right and we weren’t the big four and we couldn’t sustain success or find our way back to it, we really showed them.

This well placed logic did not work for me when I wanted Alyssa Milano to be my wife in the late 1990s

This falls squarely on Judy and her pre emanate status. She didn’t care about silly sports. Now we need a University President who fully understands this and has drive to see it happen

Our education credentials may actually come back to pay off in athletics in the future.  You never know.  Right now we definitely know what we should have been doing for 10 years even though some were mocked for saying this.
