I think I'm going enthusiastically cautious. I'm way into not getting too excited.

I don't know why anyone wouldn't be optimistic, We made a great hire by all accounts, we haven't lost a game in 2020, and we have some good players coming back. I know that there is a chance that we aren't successful next season but is there really that much gratification about being right about that?

Lol think the only way that will happen is when we finally win a championship

Not even then. People will start with "but we won't repeat next year".

There were signs...Texas was paying us a lot of money to take him...

Well lets look at our schedule:

@ Texas:  Texas hasn't been really impressive, but it's our opener, it's away, and Texas hasn't been terrible - Probable loss

BCU:  BCU has been bad even by FCS standards - Probable win

Nevada:  Nevada is 7-5 with a win over Purdue - Possible win

@ FAU:  FAU is 10-3 win no signature wins, just lost their HC - Possible win

Navy:  Navy is really good this season and the triple option is hard to defend against - Toss up

Tulsa:  Tulsa is 4-8 - Probable win

ECU:  Well ECU is ECU - Probable win

@ Cincinnati:  Played for a conference championship this year - Probable loss

@ Houston:  Not the Houston of the past, on the road - Toss up

@ Memphis:  Defending AAC champs, losing their HC - Probable loss

@ Temple:  Decent team, away game - Possible loss

@UCF:  Has taken a step back, at UCF, last game of the season - Possible loss

IMHO, depending on how quickly CJS can pull things together, we're looking at anywhere from 3-9 to 7-5

Looking at maybe a 3 or 4 win season next year. Hopefully we can find 6 wins in year 2.

I don't think it's unreasonable to think and hope for 6 wins next year. Scott Frost took UCF to a bowl game after 0-12. This isn't the NFL. If CJS is a great coach, he'll win here early.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
