He's right though playing nationally relevant power conference games positively boosted interest and recruiting. Those days are gone, we're secondary class citizens now. It's about recruiting, good coaching, and a HC that busts his ass in every aspect of his job especially off the field stuff (community involvement, courting donors etc).

Right about what?  He claims that we should put 35K in their seats every game regardless of conference, match ups, team performance, etc.  He claims that our fans/alumni suck because this isn't happening even in the midst of a historically bad run despite how many tickets are sold and regardless of the stats that every school in the country uses.  He also claims that we have "never won".

Based on his criteria, every g5 program in the country and their fans/alumni are utter failures.

On the other hand, I agree with your points and that is kind of the point.  We are no longer in a BCS conference and we can not hold the fan base to the same standard you would the P5 schools of the land.  We're not putting 35K in the stands to watch us lose to Temple, get waxed by Memphis, almost beat Cincy, and squeak out a W over Tulane (and no one else in the country is either)

Probably more about how many people watch the games on TV.

People like to watch games that matter. If our conference produces teams that are ranked, then they should matter. Hence people will watch those games. Some of the games in prime time currently have much less appeal than a lot of our conference games

There's an opportunity cost though that you can't put a number on easily.  If our stadium was on campus, you'd likely have more students say 'eh why not' and walk on over when it takes just a few minutes to see a game vs the hassle of getting to Ray Jay.

So, if Florida is a football state that why don't they make it to Ray Jay?  Well, it appears they will make it to Ray Jay if the team is playing well.  When MBB is playing well and against good opponents some students do show up. But the fact that an arena or stadium is on campus really has nothing to do with it.  Watch an SMU game from a couple of years back. Texas is a football state.  Where are the students?  This year they had more students. The difference? The team was playing better.  If you can get them to Ray Jay when they are playing well and there are good opponents you don't need an OCS.  If they are playing poorly against crappy opponents they aren't going to the game no matter the location. IMO

Would love to see USF get an OCS like Tulane or Houston. Nice smaller stadiums that helps the atmosphere a lot better than these big NFL stadiums. First thing is first is to make the IPF a reality before we work on the OCS

I hate that I have to watch 8 AAC games a year, the thought of watching an AAC game that we are not playing in is unfathomable to me.

Until the college football playoffs are expanded to make access more realistic for AAC, many people won’t care

MBB - on campus arena.  Check out the number of students some night.  You literally can sit and count them.  The OCS argument is garbage.  Students just don't seem to GAF.

And how many students do you think would attend basketball games if they weren't on campus?

Your analogy doesn't disprove my theory that more students would attend if it were on campus.  It just proves that a sport less popular than football, with much worse comparative performance, doesn't draw students.

Ask the Rays if they would prefer to have their stadium within range of more people or less.

Would be interesting to see what the student attendance was the year we played at Amalie while the dome was under repair.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
