How smart is someone who gets caught doing stupid things?

I know a bank president that got caught doing something that took some smarts to do but got caught.  Don't think anyone ever mistook him for stupid.  Just did something that turned out to be illegal.

That doesn’t sound very smart to me.

There is a difference between being stupid and being careless (or in the case of the IRS and SEC - aggressive)

it's beyond dumb to use up public resources in this manner.

I love all the exaggerated scenarios about a lawless society if we don't throw these "hardened criminals" in prison

Miami Dade jail system spends $175 per day per prisoner and that's just for direct costs.

it doesn't include costs such as courts, outside healthcare, etc.

I get he needs to be punished for what ultimately amounts to an unpaid traffic ticket.

Fine him. Garnish his wages. Make him pay a penalty but we spend Billions in this state on imprisoning non violent offenders.

it's stupid and a complete waste of money.

He wasn't imprisoned, he spent a night in jail.  There's a huge difference.

Cops just enforcing the law.

Hope he pays his fines and moves on.

Id give him a pass if I was the head coach unless he had prior problems.

So you're saying its a privilege to drive on the roads that I already pay for through taxes? Is it also a privilege to live in the house that you pay for as well? Or does the government ultimately own everything, and we are just gracious plebs

Nah because you paid taxes you get to do whatever you your little heart desires on the road. Every commute gets to be a mad max hell scape.

he shouldn't have been brought to jail by the cops for failure to appear regardless.

take him directly to the magistrate to appear, not to jail.

smh.

Maybe they should make him breakfast and help him get dressed each morning while they're at it.

@TRUTH D. Antagonist Maybe you should work on your reading comprehension skills before dropping "derp" exclamations on a fellow poster. My sentence was in regard to the "babysitting role" you were insinuating the cops should play by taking him directly to the magistrate vice sending him to jail. My statement "Maybe they should make him breakfast and help him get dressed each morning" was a follow up on your asinine statement about the role of a police officer when an individual lacks the responsibility to appear for a ticket. God forbid someone should be held accountable to the laws of our country (especially when given multiple opportunities to make things right).

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

Last I checked the scoreboard doesn't have a spot for current bank balance on it.
