CT) (Photo: Brian Murphy, Getty) 247Sports Take: Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports is hearing that Oregon defensive coordinator Jim Leavitt has had conversations with representatives from Colorado and Texas Tech about their openings. Leavitt is lining up potential staff moves should he leave Eugene, where he's been DC for two seasons. The 61-year-old Leavitt was South Florida's head coach from the football program's inception in 1997 through 2009. He has ties to both programs. Leavitt coached Texas Tech AD Kirby Hocutt when the two were at Kansas State and was extremely successful in two seasons as Colorado's defensive coordinator. Keep an eye on whether Kansas State comes open, as well.

But as an actual football coach he has a 500. record and USF averaged 8 to 9 wins a season with him. It baffles me how he is held in such high regards as a head coach. I think he is a great defensive coordinator though. He's held in high regard as a head coach by USF fans because of BUILDING the program, setting the foundation, and bringing USF into the national college football picture. He represents the best times of USF football. Some, however, take it a step further and think his firing was the worst thing that ever happened to USF football. It's not. The worst thing was having the BCS rug pulled out from under us after the fanbase had gotten used to living in that high rent section of college football ...... I'd suggest you give up this quest ... especially after your math skills let you down horribly.
