Then why do most coaches suck when they get older?  The rarely get better... Bowden... Paterno... etc  Only a few don't.  The game passes everyone by and the college game is much different than the pro game.

Bowden and Paterno were like in thier 70s during thier decline lol We are talking about 2 coaches in their early 50's and physically in great shape. Herm is physically in better shape than Taggart. They are both new to the college game so they are far from being "burned out" like the older coaches. both have a good 5-10 years left.

Nope... won't slow down this time... not-at-all... uh uh...  I'm all aboard the Barnett Express! Big Red will take us to the promise land. (Cleavon Little voice from Blazing Saddles)

Just wondering. If your boy Barnett is so far and above the others why haven't we named him as starter?  I hope to God you're right but doesn't appear to us amateurs that he has shown any more than the others at this point.  Otherwise he would have been named.

Just my 2 cents, but I think he’s likely slightly behind in learning the system. It’s one thing if BK and CO were scrubs. You have at worst, two average QBs who understand the system vs a QB that can make every throw in the book but is still trying to fully understand the system and execute at game speed. He could be lighting the world on fire and making tight window throws, but if Gilbert has to limit his playbook, is that worth it? If not, now you’re back to square one choosing between BK & CO.

It's just CCS playing games, BB will start and play majority of the first game. He waited til gameday to announce Buechele as the starter against ND in '16.

LOL ... I'm sure you're right.  We can't have Elon prepping for just one guy.  Need to keep them guessing.

It's all about GT..he will also let Gilbert put up 60 and get the horses running.

Unlike last year...The Rb's are far better and will run wild.

He has literally practiced with the team for a couple of weeks.  At least let the guy get up to speed... a better question is how someone so new got into the mix so fast.  I don't think you know how these things work and obviously you haven't followed Strong.  He literally did the same thing with Bridgewater except he waited the 3rd game to start him.  I mean that's a silly question to me.  You're approaching it from the wrong end.  Also... why did Strong recruit him in?  Honestly, he probably wants O and Kean to know they got a fair shot.  So yeah.... there you go

Why do you think it's about Elon?

Not going to say you're wrong about the reason for not naming the starter - but I'm DEFINITELY in wait-and-see mode re: letting Gilbert turn the O loose for 60 pts.  That would certainly be a change in MO.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
