What's Doug doing these days? Harlan is just clueless when it comes to basketball hiring imo. I hope I'm wrong but I don't think Gregory is half the coach Heath was. I'm gonna wait and see what his assistants look like but Bartow would have been a better hire since Gregory is the best a sorry AD like Harlan can do.

Saw him at the Valspar on Thursday. Looks good. And he's becoming quite the bourbon drinker.  He'll be at our place for the next bourbon bash.

He wanted the job, sounds good to me! Honestly don't know what everyone is expecting? We are still keeping Bartow, and brigrging in a new guy who has coached in the A10 and ACC. That sounds like a great deal to me; curious to see what the players think of this. Also, reason to hire NOW as opposed to waiting in futility until after the tourney is recruiting. Gregory can now come in and talk to the current players as well as start recruiting. Hopefully Holston decides to stay.

IT CANT BE MUCH WORSE.

Gregory will be better than Antigua, that's about I can say at this point.  I'm sure it is difficult to find anyone that wants to take on this rebuild.  Needed to pull the trigger so the coach can actually find enough players to field a team next season.

This whole thread reminds me of another thread about four years ago.

Now all we need is a guy to light up the record book while all the keyboard gurus write about how much he sucks.

This is as hard of a rebuild as there is in America. Apathy runs strong within the hallowed halls between Fletcher and Fowler Avenues. :iconic_u_black:

Yep and you recruit selling possible starter first year on campus.

Give the guy some time..nearly impossible they can be worse.

OK, so just a point of order.

three years ago some folks said that Orlando and Oliver Antigua was a bad hire for USF hoops.

this (Gregory HC with Bartow as Asst Coach) is not a bad hire at all...

And I agree. Maybe it was another sport.

I guess you win some and you lose some.

If all else fails, we can poach some guys from USF football.

Me & My brothers made history we are the first Three seniors to leave highschool with two state championships.

Vega,

Are you okay? That almost sounds like Stan Heath praise.

As a head coach I would probably take Heath over Gregory.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
