Big teams won't come to town for much less and it gives us a chance to grow into it. It makes more sense to build it now as it would be more cost effective. We wouldn't be saving much money with it being 40,000 seats compared to 50,000.

Two thirds of the stadium is under ground, you can use the earth for supports and that would really lower the cost. Exapansion is easy since the lower deck will not need strong supports. An upper deck wold be built like the lower deck of most other stadiums. Very nice except, this is Florida. Most of the states land surface lies on top of what used to be wetlands. These areas are known for their layers of plant matter which often times are supported by naturally occurring subsurface springs. When the springs dry up or too much weight is placed on the surface, sink holes occur. So digging into the ground and thinning the surface layer isn't a good idea. My point is that a Stadium of this design isn't going to be at the top of the list in Florida. Just saying. I think it needs to be 45k... city is growing, school is growing. You don't want to be needing to expand only 10 years after it's finished.... USF moves conferences? 40k will be too small. Make it 50k. Vandy Plays in the SEC with 40K seat stadium...

Maybe not on Day One, but there really needs to be a provision for a roof/dome/retarct/whatever. This is Florida. It's GOING to rain. In bunches. And SHINE. All over ever'buddy! Besides, the right kind of roof can make the noise exquisitely painful! 5 hours ago, TheUpperHand said: ECU has the largest OCS in the AAC: 50,000. Therefore I would expect our new stadium to have a capacity of 50,001. This will be the minimum. We did the same with the student section a while back. My guess is 51,000 4 hours ago, NAM37 said: Then stage two: Me likey! Aluminum benches in the corners and end zones, Individual seats between the 30's. And the seats should have plastic bottoms for coolness, and metal backs for noise. Imagine a back that kinda looked like this, but was hollow, like a cowbell. And then imagine 30K people sneaking in wooden drumsticks and beating on the chairback in front of them. Stanford is built on top of a mountain, USF is virtually in a swamp.
