That could be what USF is trying to do.  But there is a clause about "total compensation".  Texas could argue that they should get back 50% of the average salary over the length of the deal.

Also, Strong gets 50%, so there is incentive on his side to bump salary..

I was thinking that too, but then it says they want his w2 each year as proof, which wouldn't show up if it was back loaded

IMO, total compensation is used because in coaching contracts the total pay is some combination of base salary, media appearances, commercial endorsements, performance incentives, etc.

Very much so. If there was any uncertainty he would be vetting his option. It doesn't appear he is. I just hope USF has a window for CS to respond by. Getting scary close to the dead period for recruiting. Would be great to get a coach hired and assuring our current recruits, and newly decomitted ones, the situation.

The dead period starts Monday.  Getting CS was/is always our only shot to have someone in place prior.  I do not blame USF for that, that is just the timing of everything.
