OCS is a game changer for the program. UCF's stadium, lousy as it is, has raised their recruiting to exceed USF's. This is the only way to take the program to the next level. RayJay is getting old. Build 40000 seats, open endzones with minimal suites and a large vid screen...everything upgradeable. Rent seat backs like nearly all of the SEC stadiums. Stadium must be on the campus to have real effect on getting alums butts in seats.

No, just no.

Their recruiting still isn't that great and the gains they have made have been from winning consistently.  Where they have really excelled is player development....

If you look at the recruiting rankings from last season, you will see that USF had the higher recruiting class than UCF. I will say that UCF getting their OCS has increased their game day atmosphere. Increased their fan base. Increased their winning. Helped turn their program around that was once 0-11 with O'Leary.

Would love to see this happen. Does anyone know if the people who just bought university mall have interest in making that a site?

The two anchor stores are still owned separately ...

So people should now take a look at this and realize a few things. The mall without the anchor stores would be worth well north of 29.5m (these investors would expect a healthy profit on their investment), so tack on the anchor stores too and were are well above 30m for just obtaining the property. This of course doesn't include demolishing it all and most importantly construction cost. I would say that 30+ million would be better spent actually being invested into building the stadium itself rather than just acquiring the land and removing the old structures. I think we can once and for all dead the thought of acquiring "The Mall" for our stadium, It's the north side of campus by Greek Village or bust....

maybe somebody should put a pic of the campus and shop a pic of a stadium on it so we could see what that would look like :D

Great idea! Maybe we could use an old picture of the Orange Bowl in the rendering.

Why not on top of the Greek Village?

I feel the same way.

I'm getting tired of Taggart running his mouth.

"We're not exactly Alabama" now, we're "different" for not having an OCS.

Dude, go back to powerhouse WKU if we're so behind in every regard. We'd happily let that happen.

Leavitt played up the fact that we're in Ray Jay, at least publicly and to recruits. That's a better approach for a person who has no real say whether we ever make the stadium investment.

So for all you youngins, I had a post that was pinned for a long time here... it was started in 2006.

http://thebullspen.com/topic/25905-on-campus-stadium-questions-answered/

It talks about almost everything that has been raised over and over and over again...  In that thread, I had this quote from 2009:

From Greg Auman:

-- If you had any immediate hopes for an on-campus football stadium at USF, Leavitt was candidly frank about the possibility. "I don't think in my lifetime," he answered. "We don't have the money. Who's got $200 million to give us to build a stadium?" Leavitt said playing at Raymond James Stadium remains his "No. 1 recruiting tool." He said not having an on-campus stadium hasn't hurt Southern Cal or Miami, and he also brought attention to the need for other facility upgrades at USF, specifically mentioning baseball, softball and soccer. "We have so many other needs," he said.

From that thread, here is what PapaJohns would look like... and where it would realistically go.

Too bad we don't have excess wetlands to dredge and fill and gopher tortoises to entomb like UCF. That part of their campus used to be beautiful.

But where would we park?

Simple. We park at Raymond James and the Bull Runner takes us to the stadium.
