To answer the question presented in the tread (Anyone miss Holtz)  NOPE.    In fact dislike him more now than ever , He is/ was part of the this dumpster fire that we call USF football.  He, Doug Woolard, Coach T are all part of the problem and what got us to this point.

Hoping that Harlan can fix this mess before its too late.

This board...that ANYone would think we'd be better with CSH, and would even call him a guru--ugh. Thank goodness everyone gets an extra hour to sleep tonight. You guys need it.

I said IN COMPARISON to CWT who has insisted on White, changed to an offense hardly anyone uses and players don't know and has been calling questionable plays on offense, and led the team to its first FCS loss in history. Don't be stupid and take it out of context.

And Holtz gave LA Tech a loss vs a FCS team.

So.. not much of a guru in comparison

And so did CWT. As I see it, Holtz was at USF 3 years, the first half was fine, the second half not. So that's 1 1/2 seasons, the point Taggart is at now. Does anyone expect him to start winning this season? I read where someone he said he needs another year to turn around. So 3 bad years and maybe start winning?

Yes we all know your man-crush of Holtz still rages on

However to compare him as a guru to Taggart is laughable given how the end of his tenure here is comparable to where we are now

How many games has he won as head coach? Taken to the FCS playoffs? Conference championship games? Bowl games? You think that CWT could beat Notre Dame if he was the coach in 2011?

Impossible to know if he would have won, or lost by anyone, including you.

So asking that question is completely asinine.

....Although i would say very possible given Taggart would be provided what Holtz had... mostly Leavitt players, including Daniels, a very capable QB.

Something Holtz was unable to obtain for USF.

And if you compare that to Taggart's inability to do the same, then I guess it still helps defeat your argument that Holtz is a guru

The ONLY things I've seen cwt do better than Holtz in 2 years, get a better DC and recruiting. His play calling and coaching of actually football skills has yet to be better than Holtz. Who knows how much better a player Bench and White would have been by now under Holtz, it certainly couldn't be any worse.

Under any context, to refer to Skippy as a guru draws my "ugh"...stupid or not. Your dramafication of where we are with CWT vs where we were with CSH doesn't really help sell your perspective. It's still wrong.

[edit] - you just can't make what-if statements about where we'd be with Skippy, as if it's for sure one way or another. Well, you "can", but unless God somehow gave you the gift of prophecy, I don't buy it.

Calling w/l, p/f and p/a records as "dramification" doesn't help sell your perspective either.

Holtz was absolutely terrible. Anyone that says they miss him at USF is a UCF fan.

Yeah, that sucker coached his team to 59 terrible points against WKU today. His terrible team's offense is 11th in scoring, USF is 116. Embrace the suck.

Holtz got canned because he could never field a good defense and was a horrible gameday coach, not because we couldnt score points.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
