Side note, NIU's AD is killing it with the scheduling in the future. Nebraska, Utah, BYU, SD State, Maryland, Ohio State, BC, Arkansas, Northwestern...

I get that NIU is not the 'sexy' opponent your fan base was looking for, but it will be a good test for your program.  NIU is a quality program.  Clearly in rebuild mode after graduating Jordan Lynch, but they are 49-11 (.816), including this season, since the turn of the decade and have won 11+ games each of the last four seasons.

They've also been to a BCS bowl .... Granted, if these are the high powered opponents Harlan was referring to, I can understand the disappointment but to diss a program with a better pedigree than ours shows just how clueless some of our fans really are.

I think this goes back to the same argument when Syracuse was announced, in the big picture its a good game. If this is Harlan's idea of a high powered opponent, I'm going to throw up in my mouth.
