USF always gives its potential employees an offer sheet, which if accepted leads to a background check (or whatever they feel like looking up), and then the contract is presented. I had to go through it to work at USF and my wife did it for her initial hire as well as each time she's been promoted within the university. Simply changing classifications requires a repeat of the process even if you're just moving from one college to another.

It's an offer sheet, Joe, not a contract. Thought you were smarter than those guys at Deadspin ... Did OA just sign an offer sheet?

Doesn't matter what the title is. A contract is any agreement, verbal or written, that establishes an agreement of the party. The fact that the parties were to sign a more complete contract later is fine but this document is what established the rights and obligations of the parties as to each other in the interim.

But facts are, they didn't sign a more complete contract, did they? Bottom line to me, was Masiello ever the head coach of the USF Bulls?

But that doesn't work with some of the board members agenda's on here. Therefore, your comment will be ignored Jtrue....don't you know the rules?

(1) An offer sheet is a contract in NCAA athletics. It just doesn't spell out all the terms of the contract. The big contracts usually aren't signed for several weeks or months.

(2) In the other thread, I said (direct quotes) "Sorry. When a coach accepts a job, signs an offer sheet and then gets it rescinded because of a false resume, it's news."

To which you replied..."

No, you've just been sucked into this gossip riddled generation that has no clue the meaning of what real news is ..."

(3) A coach signing an offer sheet and having it rescinded is news. This guy was our next coach, signed and ready to start...

(4)I know it's tough to admit you were wrong, but you were wrong.

Spin it any which way you want, Joe. I guess I've got a higher threshold for news than you do. Don't care who wasn't our new coach, just who actually got the job ... that's NEWS to me. Maybe Deadspin can dig up some material about Rice or Neal for you to gossip about. They aren't our coaches, either.

It was news. I'm sure 90% of the world would agree.

Of course they would ..

Yup, I've brought this up before too. My girlfriend used to work for USF and went through the same process....

Not disagreeing with you. Just noting that legally that whatever the document is titled it is the contract until superseded by something else.

Had Publix hot and spicy wings for the first time on Saturday. Delicious.

Best part was a order of 20 pcs (for under $10 - a steal) came with a free gallon jug of Publix sweet tea. Solid dinner choice.

Yes. For the nutritionally challenged.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
