If we were on their 38, I'd let Kloss try a long FG rather than run. He has the leg and a FG would have iced it too.

Methinks he was trying to get the record for Mack.

1) ask your RB and line to get 1 yard on top of the 275 he's already got and the game is OVER, plus he gets a record

2) ask your kicker to hit a 55 yarder which still leaves it a 2 possession game and a miss puts them on the 45

That's a worse choice than the punt .... Too many things that can go wrong.

So you'd coach scared. Nice to know. ;)

Anyway, I'm sure he used his decision making card and went with the play with the highest % of success.

There is a reason I don't get paid the big $$$ to coach football.

Additionally, with the night Mack was having, it's not a stretch to assume he can get one yard in that situation.

Had he gotten it or better yet, broke off another long TD run, all on here would be praising the move.

I'm praising the move. That has to be the play with the best chance for success.

It was 4th and 1 in a 36-24 game, less than 2:00 on the clock, inside their 40, and 1 yard would have broken the record. So basically, CWT said, "I'm going to give the ball to a guy with 275 yards and see if he can get 1 more to literally end the game. And oh yeah, it will also break the single game record."

QFT
I'm confused...it was 4th and 1 and he got that one yard to tie the record...but we still turned it over on downs?? I definitely don't remember them bringing out the chains....

according to the link i posted, it was 3rd and 2 and mack ran for 1 yard, then ran again when it was 4th and 1 and didn't get the yard, therefore didn't break the record.

This.

Got it. So the truth that was quoted was not accurate.

Did he not go for the record and 1 yard on 4th down and 1 yard in that situation? I went by it being 4th and 1 on his last carry and ending up tied with 275 and no first down.

The more astute ones here are already praising the move ...

That's my exact recollection.
