Holtz is .557 in college. That's about 1/2 of a game better every year.

Not exactly world beater numbers.

Holtz was the "safe" hire. Good guy. He was the anti-Leavitt in personality.

Nothing real impressive about his resume though with the exception of the usfl which is a completely different beast.

Recruiting is what hurt him here. The administration may have had an effect on that though.

Scott is by far the leader of worst coach. May even go down as all time worst coaches in college football.

100%! CJS couldn’t pull at win out of his ass when the other team was handing him it. He was a glorified hype boy and that was it. Best hype man for USF, until CAG came. You may find this in my past, but we should have demoted him just for his hype skills and fooling the fans. Let’s pray we never see worst than CJS.

 

Scott also had a larger budget for hiring coaches around him. Screw this nonsense.

We have only two coaches above 0.500 and only three coaches with bowl wins. Jeff Scott is in a class of failure on his own.  Safe to say neglecting athletics under Judy didn't help the football program.

Note also that the level of competition over the years has not been constant.  Low in the early years.  Highest in the big east and since then it has gone down.

He is the  main cause for the worst fbs program over the last three years. All we can do is hope Goach  gets usf from the bottom of fbs football  to relevancy soon.

scott was awful. not going to argue otherwise but the only difference between scott and strong was that scott wasn't left with a loaded roster.

He didn't but he had 3 years...he put together some talent but as a field general he was about the worse I've seen ever. 

If I was AD I would highly consider firing him after that BYU game...unacceptable way to open your year 3.

he definitely couldn't get out of his own way when it came to coaching. always panicked.

he had the worst mindset of any coach.

he came in with a belief that he couldn't win for one reason or another and made his players believe the same.

always saying it was a multi year rebuild or covid set us back or blah blah blah...
