I think many of us are desperate for something positive.  If I'm being honest with myself, it's a bit of "accustomed to losing" because my standards are so low, now  having two games in a row of not being blown out feels like progress.

Yep. That's pretty much it.  We embrace "well, it could have been worse".  And I personally don't have what it takes to celebrate incremental improvement. I'm strictly a scoreboard at 00:00 kind of guy, 'cause that's the stat that matters.

...what's the alternative at this point?  Just keep being upset even though the situation is likely not changing (in ways I might think are best).  At least right now there's a *hope* that if we get healthy...

Yep, again, 'hope' is about all there is. I stopped attaching any measure of emotion to USF hoops several decades ago. Why? Eventually you're resigned to the old "it is what it is" adage.  Still follow it, but don't expect miracles or a magic show.  I think, and it is not unexpected as this IS a USF message board, that the "I can see us winning x" position really translates to "I hope Jesus miracles us a win" more so than "I can see us winning x-number of games based on a sound analysis of [insert data here]".  Hope, wishing, crossing fingers, rubbin' the hell out of a rabbit's foot. That's about all fans can do, as most are removed from the decision-making process.  It'd be nice to win some more games this season, but I won't be taken aback if it doesn't come to fruition. 🤔

I'm not given up I see progress but if we don't start winning games to close out this year I've seen enough.

All I can hope for is reverse of 2018 season.

Was kind of thinking the same thing, but not just reversal of the 2018 season. The away Houston game was the beginning of this whole current spiral. The Cougs owe us ....

After the Tulane game we stood above the player exit tunnel and watched several guys heading off the field acknowledging the few fans that hung around. It's important for us fans to remember these players are young men who (I'm pretty sure) want to win even more than we want them to win. I also think they are close to getting those wins this season. I believe what we are seeing is a team that is nowhere near as bad our record. At least, I'm still hoping that's the case. 🤘

If the defense can be fixed, we have a shot. The last good defensive performance was in oviedo last year. Was it Sims & La Prato, or just the opponent? Is the play caller still a problem?

I believe we ran a different scheme that season and that game as well compared to what we run now. Spencer ran a 3-3-5 I believe and I am not sure if Sims changed it up for the UCF game.  Defensive backs seems to be our weakest link and we run a system with 5 of them out there.

I have been silently reading the comments over the Tulane defeated and really I am shocked.  I don't feel likely people are seeing things clearly.  I see a team that is very, very close.  Florida was close, Cincinnati was close (I was at the game), and Tulane was close (until GB went out and still wasn't a blow out).  These are all very good teams and we were right there.  If you don't see this then it seems maybe all that is desired is to see the negative.  What I see is a team figuring it out.  Once they do, watch out.  I truly believe that.  Once this team gets over the hump I think many people are going to be shocked at quickly things change.  Don't give up hope fellow Bulls.  We are right there, just keep cheering to get over that hump.  It is going to happen and happen soon.  I think in the next couple of games it is going to happen.  Maybe I'm delusional, but I truly believe that.

while there are disagreements between board members i dont think many ever gave up

i am one the bigger coach scott supporters but i have seen alot of bad signs in several aspects of his coaching

How many HCs get fired in year 3 while “almost being there”?
