Good point.  CJL did figure it out here, without all the support of overseers, advisors and chiefs of staff.  That may be the rare exception, not to mention an okay fit for a new D1-AA team.  He figured it out enough to cost him his job.

CJL also had lower expectations at the outset, and Tampa's favorite son at his back (Lee Roy Selmon) to help sell the program. USF was not likely expected to go beyond FCS for a while but he won so much that making the move couldn't be decided it against. It also helped keep UCF off our back for several years until we were better than them.

Hope is not a strategy, but we really need to hope they fix this thing somehow.  We can't afford another reset at this particular moment in history.

I guess even at LSU women chasin by the Head Football coach is frowned upon even after winning a national title.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
