Question I have is: how good were the teams that BYU has beaten already? How do we match up to them?  USF is still an unknown product. Did we really "turn the corner" in UF game? I imagine we will need to play balls out aggressive and flawless to come home with a win.

According to ESPN FPI:

#7 Gators

#22 NC State

#41 Utah

#49 Arizona State

#111 Arizona

So if that is accurate then they've played 2 middle of the pack teams and 1 team as bad as USF, which seems about right looking at those teams schedules.

Arizona
4th and 1 at BYU 14: missed field goal
Got to the BYU 26: sacked and punted
Got to the BYU 9: sacked and missed field goal
Got to the BYU 35: intercepted

Utah
4th and 2 at the BYU 8: turnover on downs
Got to the BYU 26: lost 5 yards, missed field goal
Turnover on their 1st 2 drives

ASU
Got to the BYU 42 and punted
Got to the BYU 32, sacked and punted
Got to the BYU 19, and threw an interception
    4 total turnovers

So far it seems BYU has had a very bend don't break defense, lets hope some of that is luck. Arizona had 426 yards of offense against BYU but was only able to muster 230 against San Diego State and 363 vs Northern Arizona (85 of which came from Jordan McCloud coming in for the last possession of the game). A lot of computer polls have Arizona worse than us, and it appears McCloud may be their best QB.

They aren't unbeatable by any means, the blueprint for how to move the ball against them is out there. Lets hope we can continue that trend, but just capitalize with some points when we do.

So, from this, it looks like BYU's first 3 opponents totally USF'd all their opportunities.

That game was probably our last "impressive" win. Zach Wilson was out due to injury. That BYU team beat Tennessee, USC, and Boise State that year, but also managed to lose to Toledo and USF on consecutive weeks.

BYU outgained USF by 125 yards, we lost the turnover battle 2 to 1, we committed 11 penalties for 105 yards (versus their 5 for 40), and lost time of possession 37:30 to 22:30. We had 5 three and outs and fumbled on the first play of another possession. McCloud had 72 yards passing on 14 attempts with 39 coming on one play, so his 13 other pass attempts netted 33 yards. Cronkrite was a beast that game, with 26 carries for 158 yards and 2 TDs and Trevon Sands spelled him nicely with 10 carries for 63 yards.

That win didn't make sense. Our defense played well enough in that one, bending, but not breaking. Maybe we can pull off another one that just doesn't make sense this week?

The biggest thing I remember about that game is saying to myself "we were lucky as **** to win." I said the same when we beat GT. Both of those games the defense did just enough to win but they always looked a bit fragile throughout the game.

BYU has scored 24 26 and 27 points in their 3 games.  Looks like they win with opportunistic defense and just enough offense.

Sounds like they are due for an offensive breakout game...

When I watched his presser, I felt that this game will boil down to speed vs size. But ultimately their offense will score more than just enough, the question is how well can Timmy & crew respond in a deficit.

Maybe we can go back to the CWT days and have a 65-50 shootout game lol

Revenge will also play a role here. They have 70% of their players on the team from two years ago. Those guys remember how the USF game was the low point and then they turned it around from there.

I wonder if he is watching the same team. USF is WELLCOACHED is one of the biggest mind explosions I have heard in a while.

Maybe he's referring to what he gleaned from our post-game pressers so far: "Well coach, I guess this game didn't turn out the way you expected..." "Well coach, you had some trouble in the red-zone this game..." "Well coach, you beat an FCS team, when is that elusive first FBS win coming?" "Well coach..." If that's the case, I agree we are very well-coached.

And that was just a messy game, no way around it. They’ve obviously become significantly better since that point so there’s just many reasons to be concerned.
