Not sure that I’ve ever heard of a college president NOT getting involved with the allegations that were against Jim Leavitt.

Likely Frank Martin could point to a couple times.

Gennie didn't need to bring in Thomas Gonzalez, the hired assassin the university used to break contracts.  She could have exhibited courage and and wisdom and handled the allegations internally.  Fear makes the weak kneed collapse, and she was more worried about herself than the program or school.

But as so many urge, let's look forward, or at the present.  Let's continue to hope, wish, pray that we can return to some semblance of success.  The fan base is devastated, at its lowest ever.  Money is spent and gone.  Nothing to show for it.

As I enter the sunset of my USF support and fandom, I sure hope hiring Jeff Scott turns out to be a good decision.  I have my doubts.

Mr. Kelly, I believe you will have to be excellent at your job before EVER expecting "Champa Bay" to just show up for USF Football.  The top sports, Football and MBB, need to be serious contenders.  Get after it.

I would argue she was worried about the reputation of the university.

Would you argue the athletics program has been positive to the reputation of the university with the path followed?

That's the natural predilection.

One has nothing to do with the other relative to academic/student quality. Bama is really easy to get into.

Then it probably shouldn’t have been much of a concern to her

Reasons for hope:

  • They looked absolutely terrible in their bowl game with their draft eligible players sitting out. They could be in for a big step back this year after losing all that talent.
  • They play Bama at home the week after and we were **** last year, so they're players will probably be looking past us a bit.

Reality

  • They're an SEC team full of blue chips. The difference in the trenches is too much to overcome and they'll be able to run the ball down our throats so losing their passing attack doesn't really matter. And the fact that its at noon in September, our defense will probably be gassed by the end of the first quarter after they've been gashing us for 15 yards at a time.

I dont think there is much hope . I will say the odds are like 1/100000 .  We may get lucky a few times but their talent alone will blow us out the water.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
