If the 8 team playoff included the 5 P5 conference champions, the highest ranked G5 conference champion and the 2 remaining highest ranked teams as wildcards, the conference described above would get the G5 slot every year.

I'd love to see us cut lose Tulane and Tulsa while adding Air Force, Army, Colorado State, Boise, and BYU.  We really don't need SDSU, Fresno or Utah State.

14 teams, 2 divisions not necessarily geographic to retain the rivals:

Division 1 - Air Force, Navy, Army, USF, UCF, CSU and Memphis (2 MT, 1 CT, 4 ET)

Division 2 - SMU, Houston, Temple, Cincinnati, ECU, Boise and BYU. (2 MT, 2CT, 3 ET)

I still think we need to go raid the Mountain West of 3 to 5 teams and then you'll see a conference schedule that has some sizzle to it.

Or they raid us... but I like it.

When theyn move to 8 teams, hope conference winners get Automatic Entry.

If that does happen then I would like college football the way I used to again. And when we say 8 teams it better mean at least one at large to G5 not 2 SEC, ACC, BIG 10 & PAC 12. I left out BIG 12 because I can see them being left out too if and when they lose both Texas & OU

If the AAC took San Diego State, Utah State and Air Force, for example, we would damage the Mountain West beyond repair and Boise State would lose all leverage to get a sweetheart deal from the AAC.

If Aresco had my stones he'd grab the 9 remaining members of the AAC (minus Tulsa and Tulane) and then the best 5 of the Mountain West and form a new conference (see what the Great Midwest did by ditching Dayton to form C-USA with the Metro) and with it a new TV deal. Everyone can then pay the remaining schools the exit fee and you now have a conference that is closer to the P5 than the G5.

That's the path to making the P6 a reality and not just a clown moniker.

Not a bad idea, but combining a bunch of teams that are currently G5 probably won't add a ton of value, though it may add some. I think we just have to ride our current situation out until the Big 12 falls apart, then see what can be put together to form a new conference. Somebody mentioned wanting Pitt, Syracuse, Rutgers, WVU to come back and recreate some version of the Big East. As much as I'd love to see that, there's no chance they leave their current situations.

Take the top 8 or 9 teams from the AAC and the top 8 or 9 in the WAC.

East & West divisions play 7 or 8 divisional conference games (no more inter-divisional).

Winners of the divisions play for the conference championship.

This solves the travel issue, and should command substantially more TV revenue I'd think. The only problem is I'm not so sure we would be in the top 8 or 9 anymore...

Seeing Tulsa on the schedule is like playing one of those generic I-AA teams on the old NCAA Football Video games, you just want to hit simulate and move on to the next week.

It's a conspiracy by the AAC and NCAA to get us to cancel football.
