I'd love to see us cut lose Tulane and Tulsa while adding Air Force, Army, Colorado State, Boise, and BYU. We really don't need SDSU, Fresno or Utah State. 14 teams, 2 divisions not necessarily geographic to retain the rivals: Division 1 - Air Force, Navy, Army, USF, UCF, CSU and Memphis (2 MT, 1 CT, 4 ET) Division 2 - SMU, Houston, Temple, Cincinnati, ECU, Boise and BYU. (2 MT, 2CT, 3 ET)

Or they raid us... but I like it.

If that does happen then I would like college football the way I used to again. And when we say 8 teams it better mean at least one at large to G5 not 2 SEC, ACC, BIG 10 & PAC 12. I left out BIG 12 because I can see them being left out too if and when they lose both Texas & OU

If Aresco had my stones he'd grab the 9 remaining members of the AAC (minus Tulsa and Tulane) and then the best 5 of the Mountain West and form a new conference (see what the Great Midwest did by ditching Dayton to form C-USA with the Metro) and with it a new TV deal. Everyone can then pay the remaining schools the exit fee and you now have a conference that is closer to the P5 than the G5. That's the path to making the P6 a reality and not just a clown moniker. Not a bad idea, but combining a bunch of teams that are currently G5 probably won't add a ton of value, though it may add some. I think we just have to ride our current situation out until the Big 12 falls apart, then see what can be put together to form a new conference. Somebody mentioned wanting Pitt, Syracuse, Rutgers, WVU to come back and recreate some version of the Big East. As much as I'd love to see that, there's no chance they leave their current situations. East & West divisions play 7 or 8 divisional conference games (no more inter-divisional). Winners of the divisions play for the conference championship. This solves the travel issue, and should command substantially more TV revenue I'd think. The only problem is I'm not so sure we would be in the top 8 or 9 anymore... It's a conspiracy by the AAC and NCAA to get us to cancel football.
