Tulsa has great Academics?  Didn't know that and kind of surprised.

Yep...and a decent amount of oil $ to boot.

They used to be good at hoops too. They did make a few C-USA title games in football. Not sure if they already won some football conference titles but at least they came closer than USF lol

Agreed, if they left the conference it would collapse, they are the wind beneath our wings and I feel fortunate to get them at home in consecutive years.  This may be the beginning of a historic rivalry if we play our cards right. I still get a tingling sensation thinking of the last game we played against them, down to the wire  in front of at least a couple hundred fans, maybe more.

They did have a couple of NCAA tourney runs in hoops (didn't get real far, but have won a couple games here and there), and I remember they did play ucf in a CUSA title game once.

Other than that, even though they have oil money and Academics......still seem to be pretty much dead weight for our conference.  Replace them with somebody else out West like a Colorado State.

Digging this one back up... any word on when the schedule will be released?  I'm not seeing the dates anywhere yet.

They usually announce the schedule in early February. Last year is was February 7 so I’d guess it will be around there

If the AAC took San Diego State, Utah State and Air Force, for example, we would damage the Mountain West beyond repair and Boise State would lose all leverage to get a sweetheart deal from the AAC.

If Aresco had my stones he'd grab the 9 remaining members of the AAC (minus Tulsa and Tulane) and then the best 5 of the Mountain West and form a new conference (see what the Great Midwest did by ditching Dayton to form C-USA with the Metro) and with it a new TV deal. Everyone can then pay the remaining schools the exit fee and you now have a conference that is closer to the P5 than the G5.

That's the path to making the P6 a reality and not just a clown moniker.

not a enough money to justify other sports

An 8 team playoff is coming soon especially since one or more P5 conferences is left out every year.
