The AAC released the schedule for the next two seasons. The league is moving away from divisions, with teams still playing 8 of the 10 possible opponents each season. In 2020 we don't play Tulane or SMU and in 2021 we avoid Memphis and Navy.

The AAC is banking on the NCAA allowing it to pit the top two teams in the CFP rankings (or, alternatively, in conference record) against each other in the AACCG in hopes of maximizing the possibility of earning the G6 Access Bowl.

It will be interesting. Hopefully the NCAA will decide on this new structure permanently. If not we will have to add a team.

How do we get Tulsa at home 2 years in a row? I'd be happy if we never played them. Id be a fan of having Navy, Memphis, and Tulane on our schedule every year. Makes geographical sense. Houston, SMU, Tulsa less so.

I still think we need to go raid the Mountain West of 3 to 5 teams and then you'll see a conference schedule that has some sizzle to it.

God how I wish. I am hearing their tv contract will be $2.2 mil per team with Boise getting $4.4. You would thing AF would say enough of this.

Boise would be so pissed if we took SDSU, AF, and Colorado St. It'd be amazing.

If the AAC took San Diego State, Utah State and Air Force, for example, we would damage the Mountain West beyond repair and Boise State would lose all leverage to get a sweetheart deal from the AAC.

If Aresco had my stones he'd grab the 9 remaining members of the AAC (minus Tulsa and Tulane) and then the best 5 of the Mountain West and form a new conference (see what the Great Midwest did by ditching Dayton to form C-USA with the Metro) and with it a new TV deal. Everyone can then pay the remaining schools the exit fee and you now have a conference that is closer to the P5 than the G5.

That's the path to making the P6 a reality and not just a clown moniker.

Aresco is not a visionary whatsoever. The conference you propose would have the NYD bowl each and every year.

Any merger with the MWC without Boise would be a complete waste of time, IMO ... and the P6 would still be a clown moniker.

At a minimum we'd have the NYD bowl game. We'd also likely have

  • a better bowl line up overall
  • better non-conference scheduling
  • better TV contract

and if the playoffs should ever move to 8 we would snag that every so often...even without a G5 auto birth.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.

Last I checked the scoreboard doesn't have a spot for current bank balance on it.
