I feel like every day it becomes more clear that amateur athletics is just a less honest version of professional athletics. Amateur athletics sounds like the pie in the sky dreams of AOC and Bernie Sanders and seems like a much nicer alternative than the purely for proffit capitalism of professional sports. Unfortunately what you get in the everyone playing for the same scholarships and the same number of scholarships at every university is greater disparity and a dark market of professional ventures that keeps the participants being paid less but with unknown requirements and an inability of teams to be able to field competitive teams without even being completely aware of what the costs are to pay amateurs competitively. Amateurism is a lie.

Jack will probably be dead before that happens again.

With Jack’s ghost on the floor for an LA final would be pretty gnarly ...

I’ve got to be the higher standard on this board people have been alluding to.

Not complicated, must win the games that matter; i.e., the conference championship and the NY6.  No one cares about anything else because not accomplishing that means we lost to another AAC team when it mattered.  We can schedule Ohio State, Bama, Clemson all in the same year, but if we can’t beat c, Houston, or Memphis when it matters no one will care.

Its just like being in a conference like the Atlantic Sun in Basketball......only one team is going to make the Big Dance.  Except its even harder, because we are competing with the other G5 conferences as well for that one bid, not just the AAC.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
