That’s kind of funny because in the real conferences there are a few stories about schools not wanting a geographically close school (aka rival in our world) in their conference and it seems to work for them.  Maybe one day.

Exactly. The history of conferences is littered with inclusions and exclusions based mostly on politics and geography and very little to do with perfecting bottom lines.

Please realistically look at the clout those Universities and Athletic departments have compared to USF and get back to me.   I'm betting most of them have been playing ball long before USF was even a University and most of them are their state's flagship university with University Endowments, Athletics Budgets, and political power that are in a different stratosphere than USF.  You can want USF to have the influence of UF, UNC etc but it does not make it so.

You don’t need that kind of clout in a dying Big East, no one else had greater clout.

UConn and Cinci are/were national brands thanks to their basketball programs and actually made it to BCS Bowls during the BE days. They both had/have significantly higher athletics budgets. They definitely have more clout....You can live in green and gold glasses land if you want but USF had very little actual power in the BE and the transition to the AAC.  You can choose not to acknowledge that but it doesn't make it so.   I love USF and bleed green and gold but the reality of the transition was we were never stopping UCF from getting in once the realignment wheels started turning.    We lacked the clout to do so and that's why they are here today......

Either that or we lost the intestinal fortitude to keep them out, one of the two is probably true. The big east was dead anyone with clout was on the way out and maybe we had some voting system in place for the last three that would be left and cared that gave us votes based on our national exposure but maybe not.

1. A real man wouldn't co-sign blocking another school from joining our conference. That is what a "hater" does. Aren't we mad at teams from the B-12 from blocking us from joining them? I don't think any school should block another school from joining their conference. Let them join and whoop their ass while they are in our conference. 2. Nobody is cheering UCF on. Hell the only reason I would want them to keep winning so that it makes our victories over them even sweeter. In addition, we need our opponents to have success to give us a better strength of schedule b/c in college football you are "voted" in.

100% in agreement here. This was well stated.

Then why isn’t every member of the MAC, Conference USA and the Sunbelt a member of the AAC? All of their members would be more than happy to join the AAC but adding them would be stupid for the members of the AAC and so they stay in their respective conferences. Adding UCF was stupid for USF, you can make fake bravado reasons as to why we should have added them but it’s just idiotic and flies in the face of any and all logic. If UCF wanted to come at us they could have done so from our old neighborhood of conference USA just like fiu and Fau which oddly no one is shedding any tears for and trying to offer more hands up (because it’s dumb and brings nothing to our lives).

  • Adding UCF was not good for USF.
  • The overwhelming odds are that USF was not in a position to stop that from happening.
  • Wanting them to keep winning flies in the face of the true spirit of college football rivalries. Plus, it's convoluted logic to somehow think that's good for USF. Nothing at this point justifies that logic.

When did USF add ucf? I did not realize we had that kind of power...We could NEVER had prevented them from joining the AAC...NEVER. All bets were off when the BE dissolved, it was everyone for themselves and this is where we landed and where they landed and we will all here be for at least the next six years (and possibly longer). I really can’t see the purpose of your position...there is no end game for something that has already happend.

The ball bounces funny and USF was not far from beating UCF since UCF joined in 2013  (VERY close games in 2013 and in 2017)  so its not like UCF has completely pulled away here.    puc86 --Imagine if a USF win in Orlando prevented UCF from going to the Fiesta bowl in 2013 and similarly in 2017... had that happened wouldn't USF fans including you be happy UCF was in the AAC?
