Targeting on Vincent Jackson

It was a two-handed push to both shoulders as far as I can tell and at that point he was a blocker, not a protected QB.  Terrible call.  I hope USF files something (not sure what that might be) with the AAC.

I'm all for protecting the QB but at that point he was not the QB and he didn't target him.  Hopefully they overturn that.  Maybe it was a make up call?

From what I saw looked like a bad call....hopefully it can be overturned.

That call left me with no confidence in replay. It's almost like AAC games get one angle and that's it for replay.

Usf can appeal the targeting to the conference and have the targeting overturned which would allow Vince to play in the 1st half if the conference overturns it

That flag reminded me of the roughing the kicker call we got hit with at UConn in either 2005 or 2007

In that case, the UConn Punter tucked the ball and started to run for the first down, pulling up at the last second to kick it.  Our DB got flagged for making the tackle on what was a runner, not a kicker

No way that was targeting. They used to say that the QB, in situations like that, better have his head on a swivel. Also, is it time to change the name of the "targeting" penalty? Wasn't it intended to stop actual targeting with the helmet (a.k.a. spearing)? This year it seems the penalty has been called way too often for normal football plays. Or maybe instead they need to change it to a two tiered penalty similar to running into the kicker vs. roughing the kicker. Or they could just switch to flag football rules to really reduce the injuries. 🤔

I too thought it was a push.  Just a bad call.  Sucks for Vincent Jackson too.  I must admit though I was relieved it wasn't on any of our more experienced DL players.

Just watched the @USFFootball game again. No way did @VMJacksonJr target a defenseless player. There should be away to appeal suspension!
