this is hocus pocus

no one in the know thinks the aac is in the same class as the p5

The AAC is clearly behind the P5 conferences in computer rankings, but well ahead of the rest of the G5. When other G5 conference schools beat a P5 school it is a major ordeal. AAC was 4-1 against Big 10 and PAC 12 opponents this season and this is not some sort of fluke season. The AAC beats a fair share of P5 opponents every year.

In 2015 AAC beat 10 P5 opponents and 8 in 2016.

The computer rankings are subject to the bias of the coder. It was proven in the BCS era that this is the case and that fact was used to establish the commity we have today.

What I care about is angling for a lot more money during the next AAC media rights contract. As long as we woefully lag behind there, we won't have a chance to better our situation--P5 or P6. Pay this conference like we're considered P6, and we're still in this.

In 2025 (or so) "P5" will very likely be moot. I think contraction (not expansion) is inevitable. We may be paying to watch just the games we want to see or buying a package of games to stream online. I can see a setup where only the real traditional "power" programs will play each other so that the pay-per-stream model offers games with the most mass-appeal. That means all those coattail "P5" teams that aren't actually power programs will be able to join us in our pity party. Can't wait... 🙄

We can not wait for a 'P6'...

USF needs to get out of the bottom half; admin needs to make sure that fans show up to games and that we own the Tampa Bay market.

Is this sarcasm?  If not, HTF do they make sure fans show up? They are advertising and discounting tickets. No one can MAKE me go to any event. If it is something I want to go to and can afford it I go.  So they can entice me with reasonable ticket prices but if I really want to see a concert or performer I pay whatever it takes to get in there. There is no such demand for USF football - or MBB.

When USF promoted the homecoming game, fans showed up.

We've had worse seasons, with worse opponents and better attendance.

Stop making excuses for the admin
