My question about rankings isn't so much where will we end up ranked. Probably in the 18-21 range. But just for fun, where will we start in next seasons' rankings? Then, if we were to go undefeated, where could we end up at the end of the season?

I would guess we would start the season ranked 24th or 25th, something like that. But I bet our ceiling would be around #9 or #10. Our weak schedule will probably let teams jump us when the playoff rankings come out.

We see WMU this season got up to #15 but they weren't ranked in the AP poll till the 2nd week in October. So in 6 weeks they moved up like 10 spots.

Yeah I'd like to think the same thing, but they held their own against a top 7 or 8 team after getting completely pushed around early on.

True. They were in it until the very end.

Finished 2007 regular season ranked in final BCS standings...then promptly lost to Oregon in Sun Bowl.  But since there were no BCS rankings after the bowls, technically we finished 2007 ranked in the final BCS rankings.

Got it. But presumably we didn't end the season ranked in AP or coaches polls after our L vs Oregon (which was brutal - I remember it vividly)...

So after a great 2007 season, Oregon ruins it by crushing us in a bowl.

After our 2016 season (the best since 2007) Oregon swoops in again and takes our coach...

Not cool, Ducks.

Correct

We did finish 23 in the final BCS rankings in 2007 but never finished in a poll before.

Having only one AAC team ranked isn't good for us even when we're the one.

I respectfully disagree agree with you. Winning and being ranked is always good. I don't care about the rest of the conference if we are doing the above two things, although I think I understand what you are getting at.

All that matters is they are ranked number 1...in our hearts. Great season and for once I'm not worried about rankings. We beat two P5's, we finished with 11 wins, and we have a few of the best players in the country. I'm going to enjoy this for a while and wherever they get ranked will be fine. We'll be the only AAC team ranked.

^this is all that matters to me.

Winning the conference is our priority

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
