I'm in agreement with the likely 17-19 range as a final ranking. I'll take it.  Goal accomplished.   Now lets go 13-1 next year with a AAC championship and major bowl victory (as G5 representative...don't know what bowl that may be next year).

Pretty sure it's the Peach Bowl

Although Peach does not host a playoff I believe they get to select before the Fiesta. Thus, I think the Fiesta is the last to select and that would be where the G5 rep goes. I could be wrong on this though so someone should look it look to be sure.

Huh?

A single conference loss kept us out of the CCG this year (arguably, we got a better bowl than the champ got, though, so there's that)

A single OOC loss kills us in the rankings due to the weakass schedule, but a single conference loss most likely keeps us out of the CCG again.

See what I mean, 206Bull?

Fair enough, I don't know why after reading this board for over a decade I still expect some rationalism on Thebullspen.

Ah I think you may be correct. This whole time I thought we would be slotted for the Peach if we have our dream season next year. Pretty disappointed now considering we'd probably end up with half as many fans in Zona vs Atlanta.

Some of us would prefer Zona greatly to Atlanta...

Isn't it the Fiesta's turn to have the G5 team?  Peach last year and Cotton this year?

There are no "turns." It is completely up to the committee's discretion to create "favorable matchups" - the G5 is guaranteed their top-ranked team will get a berth in one of the six traditional bowl games, but which of the four not hosting the semifinal is up to them.

By the way, the committee includes members from each P5 conference, but not from the G5. The "haves" used the demand for playoffs to ditch the BCS and at the same time consolidate their stranglehold over the "have-nots" by creating this so-called "balanced" committee.

The only thing that matters is "most compelling matchup". It is interesting that the first 3 years saw a rotation among the "second tier" NYD bowls.

It made sense for Boise to go to the Fiesta. Houston probably would have gone to the Cotton Bowl but it was hosting the playoffs.

If USF is sitting at 13-0 next season I would make a large wager they end up in Atlanta.

Ok, that makes since then as I was not for sure.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
