True. This is the scary part about being a stepping stone. This is where Harlan makes his legacy.

We will be be almost unbeatable at that point!

That's what makes the difference between a coach and a great coach... 2

We are riding some momentum right now and need to have someone who can keep it going. We all love QF and think that whoever comes in is taking over a great offense because of him, but, look at what Holtz did with BJ? Aside from BJD carrying the team to some wins, Holtz never built anything around him. USF needs fan support. If we hire Fleck, Collins, hell, even Scott, the fans aren't going to be excited. Maybe they would end up being better coaches, but, if we aren't getting butts in the seats, how long is anyone going to stay here? I think Strong instantly adds fans. Also, in the AAC, we are going to out-talent 90% of our opponents year in and year out as long as we recruit hard and win some battles. I have no worries about Strong in this area. Scott could also probably do well with it, but again, he's not the splash hire that the fans instantly love. Strong is the clear choice here. If we don't hire him, there better be reports that it's because he didn't want it (specifically, that he wants to sit out this year). Second choice would be Scott. Maybe he can pull in a few Leavitt guys (Kevin Patrick, Troy Douglas) to start healing some wounds with some of the fans that remember the big wins from that era. So, he didn't do well at Texas, that's taught him a lot, I'm sure. Failure is a great teacher. We have a stay-puff schedule next year. And a lot of talent (if they don't leave). He would be a perfect fit for us. Anybody else and it's a gamble. You don't win at Louisville and call it a fluke... Even the great Nick Saban lost to Louisiana-Monroe in his first year at Alabama. Charlie Strong has won one conference title, going 5-2 in conference in 2012. He went 7-1 in 2013, 12-1 overall, but finished second in conference because they lost to UCF. A UCF team they out talented. He also got outcoached by Skip Holtz in 2010 in a USF win over UL. Charlie Strong may be an improvement but it's no guarantee.
