Well per the Auburn Chat Room Board, they said they didn't think Allen turned it down but wasn't offered either. The "speculation " is that Allen is last resort if they cannot get any of the others being considered.  If he leaves he would be stepping into the same situation with only a possible 1 yr. deal. A lot are figuring Malzahn is gone at Auburn after this next season.  Hope Allen stays!

For those that say Tom Allen is easily replaceable (i.e. - SMazza, etc.), that is probably the most ridiculous statement I have seen. Probably the same knuckleheads that want to keep Antigua employed.

This is what I assumed about the situation, as well. If offered, it'll probably be a high risk, high reward situation for Allen, which is arguably a better offer than he was faced with when he took the job here.

Personally, I think Auburn is looking for someone with a longer track history than Allen for their coordinator position -- they can't afford to let the gap between them and Alabama drift much further than it already has.
