Teams will bolt out -- and this conference will fall apart very quickly Nah, they will recruit from CUSA and Sun Belt. Of course if a tnumber of teams bolt this will increase the likeihood of a MWC and AAC merger. The AAC... is CUSA. The longer programs stay in the G5; the worse it will get... Don't forget about the autonomy of the P5. Cash in college sports is centered around the few. Don't be suprised to see more programs shut down (... Indeed. There's a lot of places to substitute USF for UCF. I'm just guessing that the fun part of this exercise is the fact that you can cherry pick your reasons why we should / will get moved out to Grain Silo land. Lotta truth in that article... Let’s establish one key fact: Texas and Oklahoma rule the roost in the Big 12, so when I say “Big 12,†think them. There’s no way those schools are going to allow yet another school’s athletic department to mooch off of them. But Jeff, won’t that Big 12 TV money bring UCF more in line with the others? Yes. And that’s the problem. The Big 12 doesn’t want to subsidize another athletic department that cannot stand well enough on its own. UCF is already struggling financially in the wake of the Big East’s implosion after the Knights’ program spent tremendous capital in a 10-year-long gambit to enter the power league. If the Big 12 is going to invest $25 million a year in you, then you’d better provide some return on that investment. Namely:TV Ratings. UCF’s Fiesta Bowl appearance against Big 12 Champion Baylor in 2014 was the second-lowest rated Fiesta Bowl in BCS history, and UConn was involved in that one. UCF is just not a sit-down-and-watch draw on the order of other schools who might be candidates to join, like, say, BYU.Bowl revenue. That comes from selling out those bowl games. UCF will go to the St. Petersburg Bowl this year for the third time. The first time, in 2009, attendance at Tropicana Field was over 28,000 for the Knights’ loss against Rutgers. The second time, in 2012, attendance dipped to just over 21,000. This is for a bowl game 100 miles from the campus. I know that is not saying much but it is better than the others remaining conferences including the MWC in most years. The AAC... is CUSA. The longer programs stay in the G5; the worse it will get... 'deed it was. Something for USF fans to take note of Step #1 for making yourself look worthy to the Power 5 – Big 12 or otherwise – starts with the fans showing up. To everything. That means every football game, basketball game, baseball game, softball game and volleyball match, regardless of time of day or outside conditions. It also means tuning in on TV to bump up our ratings and sell some sneakers and beer.
