After coming off the year we had last year and playing an FCS team that has only won 4 games in 3 years and 3 wins were against a terrible division 2 program, sorry, squeaking out a come back win and giving up 31 points is not an inspiring win.

I don't have big expecations for the year. I am hoping for 6-6, but this was a disappointing win. It was a win, but I was looking for a more dominant play from the OL and at least an average (even 50% completion rate) from our QB. He was 9-26. We trailed in Time of Possession something like 37:00 to 23:00. I think our 3rd down conversion rate was poor. This is a team we should have dominated. Getting the win was nice, but there is a lot of underlying concerns.

honestly coming off a 2 -10 team last year, not sure why you would think we would dominate anyone. did you really think the team would instantly go from  awful to a well oiled machine?

it's going to take time and recruits. with better QB play last night and Breeze calling the defense that he did in the 3rd quarter than it would have been a dominant win. there are still missing pieces

Mack looks like the real deal.

We lost 1/2 our OL in the first quarter with Thor and Eatmon getting banged up. That hurts, hope they are back to 100% by next week.

Also, if White actually does his job, you can add about 21 more points to our score. He played bad, but the play calling was spot on. Receivers were OPEN and the run game was on point.

The zone defense we played allowed for the flats passes over and over again. Why didn't we switch to man? I have no idea, but Bresnahan had a top 25 defense last year, he will figure it out

I think he did figure it out in the 3rd quarter. played more press and got more pressure. that's when we flipped the game. really the only part of the night that I felt went our way. they definitely show flashes of playing well. certainly more than last year. incremental improvement is all anyone should expect. I think we saw that over last years opening night.

going back to the original question

too early to tell---

so far he doesn't look like the coach of the future but we need to give him this year and next

we are playing tier 2 football. you cant justify paying 2 coaches that don't coach

Taggart had a slow start at WKU as well.  His first year there in 2010, he went 2-10.  Year 2 (2011) started with 4 straight losses (Kentucky, Navy, Indiana State,& Arkansas State) but then went on a 7-1 (only loss was to LSU) streak to finish the 2011 campaign at 7-5.

I trust in CWT and hope he makes the right decisions to help this team move forward. The talent is there, we just need that last push.

Taggart needs a better QB in there.

I find it hard to fully evaluate when our QB's passes aren't even in arms reach of the receiver and when he has an open guy but just sits there waiting, for what i dont know, and doesn't throw it.

I guess white did have like two good long passes, but they seemed like flukes.

But allowing 31 points? Struggling to get first downs? I don't think he'll win the conference anytime soon. Maybe a bowl here or there

I just dont see a powerhouse transformation when we are losing to McNeese and struggling with Western Carolina.

We played a team that won 3 games all of last year in 1aa. Sadly 2 of those wins were vs Div 2 programs. This team better improve or we may go 1-11

again we were 2-10 last year. we have no business thinking we would dominate anyone. not sure why anyone thought  that this was a quick fix situation.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
