I would like to thank Coach Heath for his time here

Are you serious?  Did I take the bait?  Thanks to CSH for his efforts as well, but CJL is hands down the most successful coach this athletic department as seen.  From zero to #2.  5 straight bowls.  6 straight with his recruits.  Didn't want to hijack the thread, but come on.  Stan had one good year in a down BE season.  Did we even have any NIT invites during his tenure?

1 NIT 1 NCAA Tourney (2 wins)

That 2012 USF Mens Basketball team was by far the most successful USF Team.

Maybe best Coach is debatable. I think both are close.

HAHAHA Our Softball, Womens Soccer, Mens Soccer are better coaches then Heath. He is lucky Harlan was not hear last year or he would be gone after recruiting. The guy can not coach end of story. He has proven this to be true year after year. He had one good run and that is it.

That's problem right there Cmr3, you have an old mind set, a fear of the unknown, and are afraid to let something go even if it's bad because you have no belief things can get better. Ive said this before and it's been confirmed all over the internet by basketball writers, South Florida is the best job available this year. The facilities are top notch, the location is superb, the AAC is winnable, and the talent in the area is abundant.

You say USF was poised for a big next season with Stan Heath as coach? There is no solid evidence to that going to happen at all. In fact having a similar season to the one that just finished was more of a possibility. The only talent Stan has signed is Troy Holston for the 2014 class and he isn't a a program changing type of player, a good prospect but not great. Holston was not going to come in and save Heath's job. Now here comes the problem, Stan gets fired a season to late and now the new coach has a total rebuild job to do. Stan Heath was not going to be able to recruit and sign any talent out of the loaded 2015 class, because everybody in the nation would know he would be fired if USF could not finish with a better then .500 league record and make the NCAAT.

Getting rid of Stan now gives the next head coach a chance to quickly put his stamp on the program. Again if somebody wants to leave then so be it. If Holston want out then so be it. That's just more scholarships to use the new coach to get his players in his program.

This guy disagrees with your assessment of Holston:

Needless to say this is a must get and probably the biggest prize for Heath at USF ever. Yes for now Egbunu was a higher rated prospect( Holston is going to shyrocket up the rankings soon), but this kid is a hometown/local product that happens to also be a great shooter. It's extremely hard to get guys that can really shoot and score as well as Holston. They are such a rare breed that the demand for them is as high as it is for a great PG. Holston is a guy that because of his build, skills as a scorer, and pure shooting ability can come in from Day 1 and be one of, if not the go to guy as a freshmen for USF.

And whose assessment might that be, Trip? Looks familiar somehow...

I will miss Vega next season. Feel sorry for whatever message board lands Coach Heath.

All those saying Heath is a terrible coach what does it say about USF that he has 50% of our 20+ win seasons? That is since 1971.

Is it that all USF does is hire bad basketball coaches?

Wow... another shocker. I'm glad nobody took me up on my beer offer!

Stan Heath is a class act. He made USF men's basketball relevant again when he took us to the Dance after such a long wait.

I wish him all the best.

Stan Heath should be thanked for his time at the University. He was always a class act and although I wish he had won a few more games, he is in my opinion the most successful coach in USF Athletics history. (Big Money sports FB or MBB) That may not be saying much but he is the only coach in the history of the program to win a NCAAT game and brought us there for the first time in 20 years. I wish him nothing but the best. Time to make a good hire and get back to the Tourney. I understand the choice to move on.

absolutely

i  would have not fired him at this point
