Did I take the bait? Thanks to CSH for his efforts as well, but CJL is hands down the most successful coach this athletic department as seen. From zero to #2. 5 straight bowls. 6 straight with his recruits. Didn't want to hijack the thread, but come on. Stan had one good year in a down BE season. Did we even have any NIT invites during his tenure? CJL is the most successful football coach this athletic department has seen. Bobby was the most successful men's hoops coach. Stan had the most successful year of either of the revenue sports.

He won BIG EAST coach of the year and came so close to getting USF to the SWEET 16. To me, I am not sure we will see that soon. I cant thank Coach Heath enough for bringing hope to the program. We could lose good players in the process which might make the situation worse before it gets better. Keeping stays quo may cost us getting even better players. Well the problem is we never have been good at basketball and guys aren't throwing themselves at USF. So having John or Perry transfer would be a huge problem. Unless we bring someone with a big name we might still have a problem recruiting. That's problem right there Cmr3, you have an old mind set, a fear of the unknown, and are afraid to let something go even if it's bad because you have no belief things can get better. Ive said this before and it's been confirmed all over the internet by basketball writers, South Florida is the best job available this year. The facilities are top notch, the location is superb, the AAC is winnable, and the talent in the area is abundant. You say USF was poised for a big next season with Stan Heath as coach? There is no solid evidence to that going to happen at all. In fact having a similar season to the one that just finished was more of a possibility. The only talent Stan has signed is Troy Holston for the 2014 class and he isn't a a program changing type of player, a good prospect but not great. Holston was not going to come in and save Heath's job. Now here comes the problem, Stan gets fired a season to late and now the new coach has a total rebuild job to do. Stan Heath was not going to be able to recruit and sign any talent out of the loaded 2015 class, because everybody in the nation would know he would be fired if USF could not finish with a better then .500 league record and make the NCAAT. Getting rid of Stan now gives the next head coach a chance to quickly put his stamp on the program. Again if somebody wants to leave then so be it. If Holston want out then so be it. That's just more scholarships to use the new coach to get his players in his program. Edited March 15, 2014 by Vega

This guy disagrees with your assessment of Holston:Needless to say this is a must get and probably the biggest prize for Heath at USF ever. Yes for now Egbunu was a higher rated prospect( Holston is going to shyrocket up the rankings soon), but this kid is a hometown/local product that happens to also be a great shooter. It's extremely hard to get guys that can really shoot and score as well as Holston. They are such a rare breed that the demand for them is as high as it is for a great PG. Holston is a guy that because of his build, skills as a scorer, and pure shooting ability can come in from Day 1 and be one of, if not the go to guy as a freshmen for USF.
