This article has some of the points you guys were arguing over(capacity, location, vinik, etc)

http://www.mlssoccer...ium-plans-works

Notice the nostalgic name they used.

Arguing? Not us, not here. :)

nobody gives a $h!t about soccer in the United States, when are these people going to get that?

And while I agree RayJ's 67k is presently too much for us, 28k is way too small.

A lot of Americans like soccer.

Who's the guy who keeps saying soccer in the U.S. is an afterthought? Are you freaking serious?

It's 2012. Turn on ESPN. Look at the U.S. census reports. Soccer here is poised to explode and I would sell my firstborn to have an MLS team here.

While I hope you're right, hasn't soccer been "poised to explode" in this country for a decade or more?

Try the last 30 years.

Good lord I have been hearing that soccer is the next great sportsince i was a kid...forever. Nothing like 1 to 0 scores and players taking dives all the time. Only way I will watch it is if they play dodge ball for half of the game.

&rewBull and BBM are trying to convert me. I'm trying to keep an open mind.

Having said that, 28K is not big enough and is still a shared stadium, retractable roof or no. And if I'm a soccer fan, I don't want to have to put up with it being converted for football.

Bear in mind that reading each thread is not a requirement. If you aren't interested in soccer, you can bypass the soccer thread and not feel compelled to criticize everyone that is interested in soccer.

Sounding more and more like it might happen. If I may suggest that this thread be moved to the Tampa Bay Sports General forum.

"For me, I never considered it that way (as a stepping stone), honestly. When I was offered the head job at South Florida, and I'm sincere about this, I never thought I would ever go anywhere."

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

    Terry Lucas, 09/26/22
