Per the New York Post...

http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/college/football/big_east_thinking_big_ou8JdQKJUhWEeCUtGv7dNP#ixzz1XB9Lcgn8

Apparently from what I gathered from the article is that the PAC12 is close or is rumored to be close to persuading OU, OSU, UT, and TT to join the PAC, thus creating the 1st 16 team super conference.

Also apparently the ACC is rumored to be on the hunt for at least 4 more teams, the article mentions Rutgers, Syracuse, UConn, and Texas (they will never get Texas). While the article does not mention it I believe that the SEC is currently waiting to see which way the PAC goes... if the PAC goes to 16 then they will raid the ACC, which will try to raid the Big East.

texas? what are they smoking?

Get these teams to our conference. Getting KU, KState, and Mizzou would be the best teams for our conference. If not Mizzou, go after Baylor. They are a nice team that continues to improve

Would rather have Houston over Baylor

Why not? Baylor's a good school, they're in a BCS conference as well. They're much more likely to be a competitive team immediately in the Big East. Houston's a decent option, but they had far too many close losses against a weaker schedule last season.

why does nothing in your summary say anything about the big east expanding (the title of the thread) and only indicates we are about to be picked over like a day old thanksgiving day turkey?

Boy I love that idea, 20 team 4 division basketball?? BRING IT!!

And I got from the article that the ACC was not going after the BE teams

"John Swofford, commissioner of the ACC, all but shot down a report out of Austin that his league was interested in taking Rutgers, Syracuse, UConn and Texas."

Good article thought, thanks.

Mizzou needs to get with the program and they need to realize the best fit is the BE. I have to say their best shot at a NC will be coming to the BE.

Did not want to be a spoiler  ;D

I got the gist from the article that the Big East is responding to inside rumors that the SEC is gonna raid the ACC who is gonna raid us... sure the ACC Commish. said they weren't interested in the Big East, they said the same thing back when they took Miami, VT, and BC. You can't trust those douches.

To me the story was more what was between the lines then the Big East just expanding... to me the story was more about why are we expanding now? I think the Big East smelled smoke and figured out they were on fire.

Anyone else hate these ideas?  Isn't it hard enough to win a 10 or 12 team conference?  Harder to win a 16 team conference.

I don't think the Big East can officially invite someone unless those teams let their conference know they intend to leave.  Until Kansas, K-state, and Missouri do that, I'm not going to get concerned.

Potato - Potatoe

I would rather have Baylor myself... see potential for a Green and Gold showdown
