Baylor is also a very good academic school that fits with the whole Big East thing, actually I think Mizzou has a couple highly regarded programs as well.

Huh? The Big East is an Urban conference of Big City schools, other than WVU (the red-headed stepchild) and Cuse (who arguably represents NYC).

In no way does Baylor "fit in." Neither do any of the other proposed Big 12 members, for that matter.

And catholic schools.  Baylor is a well respected/snooty private/religious school.  It is connected to the Dallas market.  It is similar in profile to the Catholic/basketball schools with exception that it has a football program.  And as someone pointed out Mizzou is AAU.

You put UConn in the NYC metro area.  With that thought, Mizzou is smack in the middle between Kansas City and St. Louis.

In fact Mizzou is closer to both KC and St. Louis than UConn is to NYC

It is all about TV $$$$. KU, KSU, and Missouri bring the St. Louis and KC markets....which are huge. It is going to happen as OU and OSU are heading to the PAC-?
