Gotta agree. 3 DCs and the same crap. It can't be just the coaching.

I don't think it is either. The last defensive players(i can think of) to make the NFL were Willie's recruits(Senat, Hector, Love and Mazzi).

We have been horrible recruiting on defense.

Wonder what Orlando thinks of CAGs fast paced offense.

Assuming he knew about it before signing on …. but maybe second guessing now. Kind of ironic that the last really successful season here was one where we slowed down the offense.

It isn't...it's the talent or lack of it that's main cause. Secondary in particular is absolutely horrible.

Quicker Golesh gets upperclassmen out of Here the better.

I think a lot of this DC discussion is missing the progress that has been made this year.  Our strategy all year has been to stop the run and force the other team to pass.  We have made most teams one dimensional and that is an improvement over last year.  Yes, its true that teams can run up huge numbers of passing yards against us but I have to assume that is because we just don't have the horses on the back-end to actually stop the pass on a  consistent basis.  At least we do limit teams by stopping the run.  I would suspect that it will take a year or two to get the guys that are needed to consistently be able to stop both.  It is what it is and I think that is also why we are seeing such aggressive blitzing and playing calling by the DC.  If he knows we aren't going to stop them anyway then we might as well at least often attempt to get to the QB to force a punt because they are behind the chains with a big sack.  If you view the defense through the lens of just lacking the necessary talent to really stop the pass then the whole thing makes sense.  I am choosing to go with that.

I don't know what the issue is, I suspect it's instincts in our DBs and coaches trying to not get beat by the deep ball. Watching the game on Saturday, I thought our guys could have gotten 2-3 maybe even more picks, but they were just a bit slow to recognize the play. It's almost all soft zone, but when watching the QB, they should be able to break on a ball or 2. I really kept waiting for INTs to start stacking up with that QB, he was good, but not nearly as good as we made him look.

At the same time, we saw this with CWT, we can't get so locked into our ranking as a measure of how good our DC is doing. With a fast paced offense, the defense is stressed beyond their max. It is what it is, what we need out of our defense is more takeaways. They are going to give up yards and points due to being on the field a lot, but if they can steal some possessions it makes up for it.
