Had a family commitment yesterday and missed the game.  Looks like it was a defensive juggernaut 😂

Score 50 and lose is so USF

If/when USF looks to a new DC coordinator, I would like to see them go young and hungry. The last 3 DC have been older dudes arguably on the downside of their careers that USF plucked out of the recycle bin.  I can't even tell you where Spencer and Shoop are coaching these days and don't care.  Todd Orlando looks like he's going down the same path.

I would like to see USF hire and up and comer for the next DC.  Stop with the old dudes and I say this as an old dude.

Everyone would have complained we hired a DC with no experience.

Defense was a lose/lose no matter who we hired. Let's see if recruiting can turn it around.

The play-by-play announcers kept repeating over and over during the Memphis game that USF has the #1 G5 recruiting class for next year.  Not #1 for the AAC, #1 for all G5 schools.   USF has never done that before.

Any reasonable USF fan knew this year would be a transitional year.   BTW look what is going on in Colorado.   After a few cheap wins Dieon Sanders is making a fool of himself.   He used that transfer portal like he was getting free agents in the NFL.   How has that worked out for him?

This.  There's going to be ups and downs.  There's going to be matchups that expose weaknesses.  It's year 1 and we're on the cusp of bowl eligibility

Defensive has improved significantly. They were one of the worst defenses in d1 college football history last year. This year they are like 120 best... that's a huge leap. I don't see how people on this board can't see that?

C’mon, smazzy, You know better than this with a first year head coach.

Didn't CAG get a late start do to hiring,so we blame the guy for the roster he inherited.

I don't know I'd actually prefer a successful D coordinator at a lower level than the last 3 retreads we've hired.  Can't really do any worse.

I suggest we use a scheme that doesn't include 5 defensive backs on the field every play. We haev been total dog crap using the 3-3-5(Spencer Former fired  FAU DC with first year HC), then Schoop's 4-2-5(former tired Tennessee DC), and now 3-3-5(Fired FAU DC round 2 with first year HC). We do not have the defensive backs that can cover zones, tackle, or play man to man. We need to switch to 3 -4-4  or a 4-3-4 to try to get the QB and get less of our worst talented group on the field every play.

Gonna wait until next season before I put all the blame on coaches. USF will be fine. Memphis is used to scoring tons so nothing out of the ordinary imo. Go Bulls!!

Agreed not willing to can this guy yet.  There are questions though.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
