My MGM bet was the under on 4.5.

However, I've evolved, full of optimism, to a six-win season.  So that's pretty good.

Wku is going to be a huge challenge for this defense...likely they have best qb we see all year.

So if defense looks improved and can get good pressure on qb even with a loss I could see them getting 6 wins.

Also offense has me concerned we lost like 75% of production with Horn, Weaver and Battie.  We atleast should be good at qb and rb...receiver is just so unknown.

Based on overall recruiting talent on the roster the only team on our schedule that had more talent than us last year was Alabama. Assuming we lose that and beat FAMU.

That leaves us 10 games vs teams smaller, slower, and more under recruited than us. I think in year 1 breaking in a new system Golesh can win 50% of those.

6-6. We play a middling MWC team in the Hawaii Bowl.

Nice!

t's based on the recruiting rank every player had coming out of high school on that teams roster

Oh, so pretty much another irrelevant list.

Really, I am kidding, sort of.  My real point is, particularly in the current world of college football, preseason football analysis f(except for maybe the very top teams seems) to be about as valid as the 30 day weather forecast.

I hope you are right and we are heads above this conference.  I just don't see any solid evidence to support it.  Time will tell and I will begin to believe when I see.

We should be able to win 6 games against this schedule.  Even Jeff Scott could win 3-4 games against this slate.

Totally agree. We are not playing UCF, Houston, Cincy, Florida, Louisville. We aren't even playing ECU, SMU, and Tulane. This is the weakest schedule we have played since I was still a teenager. If we cant beat teams like Charlotte, Rice, FAU, FAMU, and UConn then  I would not call year 1 a success

5 wins or bust.

Absolutely no clue, so I'm going with 8 wins.

So the ESPN game by game "Matchup Predictor" has USF going 4-8... I think USF can get to 6-6 by winning 2 of the 4 mid-season games.

  • WKU 66.8% - USF 33.2%
  • USF 94.6% - FAMU 5.4%
  • Bama 97.8% - USF 2.2%
  • USF 58.4% - Rice 41.6%
  • Navy 60.3% - USF 39.7%
  • UAB 68.8% - USF 31.2%
  • FAU 54.1% - USF - 45.9%
  • UConn 56.3% - USF 43.7%
  • Mem 77.9% - USF 22.1%
  • USF 60.2% - Tem 39.8%
  • UTSA 79.2% - USF 20.8%
  • USF 64.1% - Char 35.9%

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
