I know we are hurting on both lines, but wondering if the Tennessee transfer might be converting back to dline?

If we're going to a 3-3-5, like I have heard, then we really don't need anymore DT's.  There is one DT and 2 DE's in that system.  We have 4 NG's in excess of 290 pounds.  Rashad Cheney can man that position.

Would it be nice to have one more big body at the DT position, absolutely, but we have 4 scholarship big bodied DT's now.

I would like to sign the Sio guy from Indiana, but not losing major sleep over it.

We are lucky our schedule is so weak because we had more talent when we played 1aa in the late 90's

Is that in order from strongest team to weakest team?

Ha! no, I just copied and pasted what I saw online and it came in that order. Now that I think of it, UCONN did make a bowl game this year...🤔 lol

Have to disagree with you. I don’t think Cheney, which I think is our best DT, can handle the NT position. We struggled with a four man line that has two returnees from last year. And now expecting those two returnees and two kids we haven’t seen play hold their own, is really in my view putting a lot of eggs in one very important basket. If our line doesn’t play better than last year we will struggle again. We need more big bodies for more options.

The problem with our 4 man line is that we only used 1 DT at a time and played 3 DEs.

That’s because we didn’t have the size nor talent for two DTs. If we are going to 3-4 set up then we really need bigger more dominant NT and bigger DEs. I just don’t think we have the talent up front to go to a 3-4 right now and control the line.

But we shall see, but not recruiting enough DLine talent was a big reason Scott failed, hope our new staff got that from watching game videos

I really dont think we have the defensive backs either to run a 3-3-5.

IMO in an ideal world, if we're running a 3-man front, neither Cheney, nor Bags, Williams or Hobbs, are the DT. Running a 3-man front typically needs bigger DEs, and aside from those 4 dudes I just mentioned, really only Eddie Kelly would be close to the ideal size for a DE in a 3-man front. Most of the DEs listed on the roster are under 250 lbs. Give me a big hoss at NT (like the Indiana transfer) and let Cheney, Kelly and others do their thing at DE
